Peculiarities in nesting of canaries. How to bread canaries (Difficulties in laying eggs)
Author: Geomil Georgiev
If at the time of laying eggs the female canary stays bristled up and immovable, this could mean that it has difficulties in laying eggs. The mature egg, ready to be laid, cannot pass through the cloaca – the reasons can be different. The normally formed egg cannot be laid by the female only when it is ill or weak. In extraordinary situations very often it happens so that the egg has no shell and only an egg with a shell can press the muscles of the oviduct – a soft egg without a shell can do this. The shell does not form only when the organism of the female bird does not have enough calcium. Excessively young females very often have difficulties in laying eggs.

IMPORTANT! If you do not have enough experience, take the bird to a vet. Only a very experienced selectionist can afford to try different types of help.

Suggestions for advanced ones:

- Turn on the infra red light.

- With a pipette drip a drop into the cloaca. It very often helps and after half an hour the egg gets out.

- Very easy and carefully massage the area around the cloaca. The egg without a shell cracks and practically drips out. Controversially - the normally formed egg should not crack as pieces of the shell can cause internal traumas.

How to prevent nesting?

Generally female canaries are ready to nest from spring till the beginning of summer which makes it possible to nest once -twice a year, the same as the free living canaries. The delicate domestic canaries could " fall out " of this rhythm and to be ready to nest for excessively long time. More than 2 nestings a year are very exhausting for the female bird. In such cases you should interfere and prevent them. This, of course, can be done after the first nesting in case that you don't want other small ones.

One of the possibilities is not to give the female bird any opportunity to make a nest, this means to take out all materials necessary to make a nest. Sometimes this reduces its desire to build a nest. However, many female birds go on by plucking feathers from themselves or from the male canary. In such cases you have no other chance than allowing the bird to build the nest and to lay eggs. Then replace every egg laid with an artificial one. The female bird can incubate these eggs as long as it wishes. Finally remove the nest – you should not trouble that the female bird will suffer from psychiatrical shock and will be sad. Such cases in wild nature can be seen very often. Laying eggs is not a guaranty to bring up a progeny, they could not be inseminated.

What you should not do? To give medication which prevent nesting.First of all they are not very efficient and second they are harmful very often.

Mosquitoes in Your Garden Try Planting These

Mosquitoes in Your Garden? Try Planting These!
Author: Scottie Johnson
If you are a serious gardener, you spend lots of time outdoors. And, for sure, you would
rather be tending your plants than swatting mosquitoes.

While there are many things you can do to keep mosquitoes away, there are some plants
that will beautify your yard and help repel mosquitoes.

As one more way to keep mosquitoes away from you and your yard, try planting these
attractive plants.

HORSEMINT
Horsemint has a scent similar to citronella. Horsemint grows wild in most of the Eastern
United States, from Mexico, Texas up to Minnesota to Vermont. It is partial to sandy
soils and will grow in USDA Zones 5-10. Native Americans used it as a treatment for
colds and flu. It has natural fungicidal and bacterial retardant properties because it's
essential oils are high in thymol.

ROSEMARY
This wonderful herb we use for seasoning is also a great, natural mosquito repellant. It
has been used for centuries to keep pesky mosquitoes away. Rosemary is a native of the
Mediterranean, so it likes hot, dry weather and well-drained soil. It is hardy in USDA
zones 8-10, and must be grown as a pot plant in colder climates. If you happen to live in a
part of the country where rosemary does not grow, you can get a good quality rosemary
essential oil; mix 4 drops with ¼ cup olive oil. Store in a cool, dry place. When it comes
to fresh plant oils as natural mosquito repellants, there is every reason to have the plant in
your yard, if they will grow in your area. It is an inexpensive and attractive way to boost
the appearance of the landscape and have natural mosquito repellants on hand as well.

MARIGOLDS
Organic gardeners have used marigolds as companion plants to keep aphids away.
Mosquitoes don't like its scent any better (and some humans feel the same way).
Marigolds are sun-loving annuals that come in a variety of shapes and sizes for almost
any landscape. They are quite easy to grow from seed.

AGERATUM
This charming little bedding plant contains coumarin, and mosquitoes detest the smell. It
is used in the perfume industry and is even in some commercial mosquito repellants.
Don't rub ageratum on your skin, though. It has some other less desirable elements that
you don't want to keep on your skin in quantity. Ageratums are annuals, and the come in
a muted blue and white that compliments most other plantings.

MOSQUITO PLANTS
There are two types of plants that are called mosquito plants. One is a member of the
geranium family that was genetically engineered to incorporate the properties of
citronella. Citronella only grows in tropical places, but it is a well known repellant for
mosquitoes. This plant was created to bring the repellant properties of citronella into a
hardier plant. It will grow where any geranium will thrive. Many have questioned its
usefulness as a mosquito repellant, but it is attractive enough to warrant planting for it's
ornamental value.

The other kind of mosquito plant is agastache cana. Its common names include Texas
hummingbird mint, bubblegum mint, giant hyssop, or giant hummingbird mint. As you
might guess, hummingbirds are quite attracted to it.
It is a New Mexico native, also found in parts of Texas. It is, in fact, a member of the
mint family and its leaves do have a pungent aroma when crushed. In its native habitat, it
is perennial, and is usually hardy in USDA Zones 5a-9a. It blooms late summer to early
fall, so it catches hummingbirds on their annual migration. The long, medium pink
flowers reel in butterflies as well.

CATNIP
One of the most powerful mosquito repellant plants is ordinary catnip. Recent studies
have shown that it is ten times more effective than DEET at repelling mosquitoes. It is a
short lived perennial throughout most of the United States. It is easy to grow from seed,
and quickly reseeds. Aside from its intoxicating effects on cats, the leaves make a very
soothing tea.

With all of these plants, the leaves must be crushed to release the aroma. Otherwise
mosquitoes can't smell them. And, with rosemary and catnip, you can simply crush a few
leaves and rub on your skin and clothing to enhance the effect.

So, next time you are revising your plantings, consider using some of these attractive
plants to do more than just enhance the landscape. You can have pretty ornamentals that
also drive mosquitoes away.

Make An Easy Coffee Can Bird House
Author: Gerald Hopkins
When it comes to birds, avid watchers know that you can never have too many bird houses in your yard. Birds appreciate these items during the nesting and migration seasons, which can just about cover the entire year in some areas. So, if you are trying to attract birds to your yard, you should certainly create a place that is inviting and appealing to them. They will reward you with their presence and you can enjoy gazing at some of the most beautiful items nature has to offer. If you are interested in bird houses, you may want to consider making your own. You can create interesting bird houses in no time, using simple household items. Use these tips to create an easy coffee can bird house.

To begin you will need to collect an empty coffee can, super glue, paint, a small wooden peg, fishing line, a permanent marker, and a utility knife. Begin by washing the coffee can with soap and water. Be sure to rinse it well. If there is much residue in the can, birds will not want to stay in it. Dry the can and replace its lid. Next, trace a circle onto one side of the can, near the bottom. This will be the entrance for the birds. The circle will need to be large enough for birds to enter, but not too large. Some birds prefer the entrances to be smaller because it allows them safety from larger preying birds.

After tracing the hole, use the utility knife to carefully cut the entrance for the birds. Next, glue the wooden peg just below the entrance. This will be a great place for birds to perch, especially if a bird has babies inside and is trying to feed them. Be sure to allow enough area for the entrance however as well. After the glue dries completely, you can move on to decorating your home. Using paint or anything else you would like, you can make this type of bird house into anything you would like. Be sure to remove the label if you haven't already done so. You can paint the can to honor your favorite football team or paint lovely flowers on the side to match your garden. The possibilities are unlimited. This is a great time to get little ones involved as well. Children love to help with crafts and painting a bird house is one that children of all ages can participate in.

After the paint and decorations dry, you can poke a small hole in the back of the can and loop your fishing line through. This will allow you to hang the house on a tree. You can also choose to bolt the house to the tree. To do this, remove the coffee can's lid and place the bolt through the inside back of the can. This simple craft is a wonderful way to attract birds to your yard for you and your family to enjoy all year long.

Humming Birds Make Wonderful Pets
Author: Mike Yeager

Humming birds are wonderful birds that are smart, playful, and easy to take care. Many new bird owners are surprised by the intelligence that many birds show. They are also very playful. Make sure you do research on all of the different types of birds. Some types of humming birds are more expensive and require more care than do others.

Fortunately, most humming birds require only a little care. If your bird will be alone for most the day, consider buying two birds, so they can keep each other company. Also, bird toys will help pass the time. Birds have advantages over other pets in that they require only a little space for their cage, will never have trouble with ticks or fleas, and will never cut or scratch anybody.

How to take care of your Humming Birds.

Humming birds require a few basic supplies. The most important is the bird cage. Make sure that your bird cage is large enough for your humming bird to move freely around. No humming bird will be happy if it always cramped. Also, make sure to buy healthy bird food. Be aware that some types of bird food are made for only certain birds. If you are unsure of what type of bird food is right for your humming bird, contact your veterinarian.

Although humming birds are usually resistant to diseases, they do sometimes become ill. If you notice that a humming bird is ill, contact your veterinarian immediately. Also, quarantine it from any other humming birds you, to prevent the spread of the disease. If you take proper care of your humming bird, it will be a friend of yours for years to come.

How to Make Nice Money Searching Useful Programs
Author: Elmar Alex
This brilliant program really impressed me! It's elegant, user-friendly, easy-to-work, enjoyable, and profitable. It lets you kill two birds with one stone: you make nice cash and at the same time get a lot of useful and interesting information. Surely you won't regret signing up with NITROCLICKS.
We all have tried pay-per-click and get-paid-to-read programs. The idea of this kind of programs is nice but the money paid is very modest. Usually it's not more than $0.10 per e-mail read and something like $0.02 per click. With this rate of money you soon become tired of clicking and reading.
NITRCLICKS pays you between $0.30 and $6 (!) per task done, the task being to visit web site or number of pages or to get registered in a program. Suppose you have 4 tasks done $5 each. It takes around 5 minutes to register in a program. So you spend 20 minutes and make $20. Isn't it nice?
But at the same time you get to know about useful online programs you would be searching anyway. Because you need good products and services to sell online to get commissions, and you need promotional tools to boost your businesses. When I joined NITROCLICKS I already was a member of several such programs. Then I suddenly realized that I could have joined them through NITROCLICKS and could've earned about $50 just for registrations. Of course all my registrations were free, but I feel I lost $50!
NITROCLICKS project was opened in September 2000 with the intention to create an exchange of information between advertisers and the program members so it was beneficial for both parties. In fact it is beneficial for both parties.
The program members make nice money and at the same time visit the sites they want to view. It's because when you fill in NITROCLICKS registration form you are asked about the sites you prefer to visit. Thus it's the sites of your choice which you visit: business opportunities, health, sports, travel, etc. That's why I say you kill two birds with one stone – you get money and you get valuable information you are looking for.
For advertisers it's also beneficial. Of course they pay for their advertising, but in return they get very careful viewers of their sites. With NITROCLICKS a visitor has to read all the information very carefully to answer then a question to get paid. If the task is to join a particular program you will have to prove your registration with some details from the confirmation e-mail.
In many ways is NITROCLICKS enjoyable. Everything is explained clearly, you know what you have to do. Interface is very user-friendly, you feel very comfortable. You really like it!
Sign up is free. Instead, you are paid $10 for sign up. You have to be over 18 years of age, have own computer and a valid e-mail address.
You get paid as soon as your account accumulates $500. This may take you a some time. But in addition to payment for the tasks which you do yourself you get 10 percent of direct referrals' revenue (people that you refer to join under you) and 5 percent of indirect referrals' revenue (referrals made by your referrals - 5 levels deep). This makes the whole thing look still more attractive. Suppose you have 5 direct referrals and 20 indirect referrals each making $50 a month. You will get $25+50=75 for your referrals plus $50 for your own tasks done. Totally it's $125 a month.
But it's just the beginning. NITROCLICS is fast growing program with around 3000 new members joining daily! It's very popular and is getting more and more popular. So definitely it's wise to join it right now while it's growing so fast to have a chance to build a sizable downline and get benefits from that.
Sign up and see for yourself. NITROCLICKS is really nice. It's real cash in your pocket. Frankly speaking, I wish I had known about this wonderful program a little earlier.
